SFLQT CH 17

Sorry for the long wait, I haven’t been able to get contiguous blocks of time to sit still and translate. I also think it takes me longer because I am also editing as I go. I have to make multiple passes through to ensure I don’t have any stupid mistakes. I also recheck certain terms and I’ve caught a bunch of drastic mistakes that way too. Finally, it really doesn’t help things that this chapter is also much longer than normal I feel.

Would you guys prefer if I broke up chapters into parts instead? I personally hate that but it’s such a common thing that I wonder if there are some readers that prefer more frequent, shorter postings over less frequent complete postings?

Just realized that once we hit chapter 19, that is about 20% of the book completed! =D

In regards to the bank fraud, it got resolved in our favor. I think I would have to call them to figure out how they even got the funds. I highly suspect that my husband’s bank login was the cause but I am not certain.

My kids are all recovered and this whole time after (even now), I caught whatever they gave me. Today is like the first real day where I am sort of not too congested though I have a wet, infrequent cough with post nasal drip.

Also, thank you for the ko-fi last week! It was a very nice surprise, especially while dealing with everything.

Please note, I also added a Novels I Like page if any of you are looking at my reading interests.

Thank you all for your support and comments! Without further ado, please enjoy!

Author’s Note:

Yuan Ze: Go, Big brother take you whoring!

Hardcore big brother, carefully guiding little sister.

Don’t worry, don’t worry, he won’t really go looking.

She then says stuff about cause in delay for posting and red envelopes.

TL Note:

Mount Tai (泰山) appears in idioms because it’s used to convey something with hefty weight or an august presence.

Really happy that Yuan Ze is the doting older brother, though he seems very tough. Also really interesting how Yuan Ze is very similar to Shen Wang in terms of being jealous of all the attention on Su Nuo due to her frailty, but he winds up the complete opposite of Shen Wang – total siscon. So now, there is also an answer as to why Su Nuo had always had a frail constitution, she was a premie. Yuan Ze is just OMG, totally pampering her and taking her out on shopping spree, LOL.

Kind of funny how Yuan Che always has to do a little tit for tat with her, pretty realistic for a big sister little brother relationship. Always bickering. Just look at my two kids. I swear, everyday I have to yell at them not to fight!

I translated as a taunting face but the literal Chinese translation is make a ghost face for Yuan Che. You can think of it as a teehee face.

Yuan Che and Yuan Ze’s relationship is hilarious too. Yuan Che’s response is translated right, he actually called Su Nuo as your little sister to Yuan Ze. I could have wrote your sister but it wouldn’t make sense why the your had to be there since Su Nuo is also Yuan Che’s sister (but elder/big sister).

I’m a bit surprised that Yuan Ze is a strip joint owner. Glad that he is trying to wake up Su Nuo from her obsession with Shen Wang, even though she has already because of her experience with the quick transmigration. So funny that he dgaf about getting his name right.

Peppa Pig = 佩奇图案, Google Translate had it as little pig pec, haha. Thought it was interesting. Also, I heard that there is a lot of discrimination in Asia against disabled people. I’m not sure how that compares to the US though.

Also diamonds need the 3 Cs: clarity, carats, color. The clearer it is, the more expensive; the purer the color, the more expensive; the bigger the carat size, the more expensive. Generally, the better the color and purity will be harder than finding a larger diamond. About 0.5-2.0 carat tends to be the standard range for engagement rings. So you can go up that size range and still pay about the same price if you sacrifice color and clarity. You want all three, then you gotta pay up. That’s my basic knowledge but my husband knows way more than me since he did a ton of research on his own while buying my ring.

I actually wanted a ruby engagement ring and my husband tried very hard to find me one for a whole year, unbeknownst to me. He wound up getting me a diamond ring, but I love it! It’s the single most expensive item that he has ever given me. You bet that I am wearing it ALL the time!

To be honest, diamond rings are really not necessary and I didn’t request it of him. I only remember him asking me what style ring I liked, not realizing that he already purchased the diamond. It’s more important that two people are steadfast in the relationship but I also understand more now that is how he likes to express his love when he is able, even if I don’t request it. So I can very much understand Su Nuo’s reluctant acceptance towards her pampering.

  1. Thank you so much and I’m glad you and your family is doing better. I personally prefer the whole chapters posted whenever you get a chance, but in all reality, it doesn’t matter. Post whichever way is easier for you. I’m just happy to read the story!😊

  2. Thanks for the chapter! It really does feel longer than usual 🤔 I personally prefer the longer, full chapters rather than releases in parts, but in the end it’s your decision 😊

  3. Thank you so much! Can I say again how much I enjoy your translations? But I think I enjoy even more your comments before and after. It feels like we’re having a conversation and your point of view always makes me see things I hadn’t noticed.

I’m glad you and your family are better. Please keep the chapter whole. I do not mind waiting at all. It’s so worth it.

    1. Thank you so much! I am glad that my ramblings can be enjoyable. I am leaning towards keeping chapter whole too. I am just a bit OCD about editing as I keep finding all these little mistakes after posting…

  4. Might I recommend to you The Empress’ Livestream? It seems to fit right into your genre of interests. I like to think of it as a novel with a male protagonist, except that she’s a woman. The FL has got a lot of male protagonist tropes, but additionally she’s also really invested in bringing up the standard of living and gender equality for the time period, which I find quite interesting.

Downsides: It’s Qidian, and I find it occasionally poorly translated. The plot is pretty layered and complex (lots of prophecies and timelines inside timelines), so it’s hard to blame the translator, but at some points it’s difficult to understand what’s going on.

    1. I generally try to avoid Qidian novels like the plague. I don’t want to get hooked and earn them money. Their business practices really leave a bad taste in my mouth and I don’t want them to derive any income from me. Money votes best.

      1. For whatever reason I didn’t see this reply. I hear you! Qidian novels are actually one of the few ones I only read on aggregators.
