Isias caused me to get slammed with mandatory overtime. Normally, it is just my husband but my dept got roped in too. Tomorrow, I will actually be working overtime and my husband is not, which is so rare since he is the overtime fiend.
I banged this chapter out quickly so it might not be so fine tuned as usual.
Anyway, enjoy! Your comments, likes, ko-fi, support are appreciated as always!
[Zhao Yunqing: Waiting for imperial grace.]
On the way back to Zhao Yunqing’s home, he sent such a message to Su Nuo’s WeChat.
Su Nuo put down her cell phone, gazing out the window with one hand on her cheek and caught a glimpse of a storefront in passing. She opened her mouth to stop the driver.
“I’m getting out for a bit.”
The car parked on the roadside and Su Nuo got out. She returned quickly with a small pink bag in her hand.
Zhao Yunqing’s driver was curious, “A gift for Sir?”
Su Nuo’s head was half lowered and hummed a gentle “un” of assent. A gift, it can be considered a gift.
Half an hour later, the chauffeur drove Su Nuo to Zhao Yunqing’s luxury holiday villa in the suburbs.
The two-story small western-style building is built right by the lake, nestled against green woody hills, with no neighbors for miles around. It truly is very secluded, perfectly suited for a secret love rendezvous.
Once the chauffeur sent Su Nuo to her destination and drove off, she crossed the wooden walkway carrying her bag, stopped in front of the house, and fumbled for the keys before opening the door.
The interior decoration is low-key and simple, and the furniture is very ordinary. This made Su Nuo somewhat surprised. She had thought that people like Zhao Yunqing would expend great efforts on their homes, but the result was not so and instead very plain.
Su Nuo changed her shoes and picking up her skirt, treaded upstairs lightly.
There were two rooms upstairs and the door for one was half ajar, she carefully peeked her head inside.
The big bed by the window was neatly made, the laptop was on, and the coffee on the table was still steaming.
Su Nuo’s brow wrinkled, as she was about to look elsewhere, she heard a clear and gentle voice softly in her ear, “Kitten, what are you doing?”
Su Nuo was startled and looked over towards the door frame.
The depths of his eyes showed pleasure and obvious satisfaction with Su Nuo’s reaction.
Su Nuo hastily stood up, “You wanted me to come in right away, so I didn’t knock on the door.”
“Oh.” Zhao Yunqing glanced down. “What’s in your hand?”
He was wearing a dark blue bathrobe with both hands in the pockets on either side and his neck was tightly wrapped. His clear guileless eyes piqued Su Nuo’s conscience with slight pangs of guilt. She slowly, very slowly hid it behind her.
Can tell with one look that it’s funny business.
Zhao Yunqing raised one eyebrow and relied on his long reach, easy like taking candy from a baby.
After scooping up the bag, he opened it for a peek and smiled wide with deep meaning.
Su Nuo rubbed her earlobe and stepped back two steps, “I, I’m going to wash up first.”
He pulled her close with one hug, embracing her entire body, carrying her to the bed. “Once we’re done, I’ll attend to you in the wash.” Then, he bit the soft, tender earlobe of the person in his arms.
Night fell swiftly.
The countryside far away from the hustle and bustle of the city is extremely quiet, and even the sky seems to hang lower. The stars are scattered all over the night sky and cluster around the bright moon twinkling. The old trees outside the window are lush and nameless insects chirp while crawling around in the branches.
Everything seems peaceful.
“I don’t want it…” Su Nuo’s low and hoarse voice sounded. Listening carefully, there was fatigue in that trembling tone.
She felt heat surging forth from her body, a wave of utter weariness overwhelmingly rushing towards her.
Slender fingertips fumbled around and turned on the desk lamp, the dim yellow light lit up the darkness.
When the man got off the bed, he re-arranged the bathrobe that was disheveled. Peach blossom eyes glanced at the lethargic Su Nuo and he left the room with tousled hair. When he returned, it was with an extra cup of hot tea in hand.
Zhao Yunqing guided the cup to her mouth, “To bolster your strength.”
The cocooned Su Nuo slowly and sluggishly crawled up from the quilt. One hand stretched out from inside and held the cup to steadily sip down the slightly sweet milk tea.
The warm liquid moisturized her dry throat and her strength gradually recovered.
Su Nuo lifted her eyes up and caught sight of red marks circling Zhao Yunqing’s wrist. She brushed through her bed head and feigned ignorance, looking all around.
Zhao Yunqing smiled instantly, lightly kneading the sore wrist, his eyes narrowed, “Eh? Don’t like the props?”
TL: Implied that handcuffs I think were used on him, lol.
Su Nuo: “…” Face blushed red.
He didn’t mind, tolerantly laughing low twice.
Su Nuo suddenly felt a bit complacent, putting down the cup to run off into the bathroom to wash, leaving Zhao Yunqing to tidy up the room.
Zhao Yunqing’s residence naturally did not have women’s clothing, she could only make do with the other party’s shirt from ages ago. The striped shirt was so roomy, that it covered up to her thighs on her.
“I’m ready to go back.” Su Nuo glanced at the time, nine o’clock, it doesn’t count as being too late.
Zhao Yunqing languidly leaned against the wall, his dark eyes shining, “I’m hungry.”
Su Nuo was picked up clothes everywhere, “Then you can call for takeout.”
Zhao Yunqing, “There is no takeout around here.”
Su Nuo then said, “So eat tomorrow. Healthcare books say that if you don’t eat at night, your life expectancy will increase by a big half.”
“…” Zhao Yunqing wholly understood that this was a little ingrate. *
*TL: Chinese idiom literally translates to white-eyed wolf.
He trod forward a few steps and seized the bustier in her hand while Su Nuo was oblivious.
Su Nuo froze, looking up, “What are you doing?”
His eyes were dark, his voice was sexy and full of grievances, “I fed your appetite, so now you don’t care about mine?” Zhao Yunqing continued to fault her, “Junior Sister Su Nuo, human beings reciprocate, you can’t lack scruples. “
Su Nuo: “…”
Su Nuo; “I understand, I’ll make it for you. Return my clothes to me.”
He paused, then after that he picked up the half-drunk cup of milk tea next to him and gently lifted it, unaffectedly, “Aiya, my hands slipped.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll help you wash it clean.” Zhao Yunqing’s peach blossom eyes curved and took the dirty underwear into the bathroom.
Su Nuo: “…?”
He did it on purpose!!!!!
The refrigerator is chock full of ingredients, everything needed is in stock.
Su Nuo rolled the huge shirt’s sleeves up high and perused the fridge contents, feeling stressed, “Senior Brother Zhao, what do you like to eat?”
After washing the clothing, Zhao Yunqing sat on the soft sofa with long legs crossed, a cup of coffee in his hands, and comfortably flipping through an ancient book.
He pondered for a few seconds, “It’s fine as long as it’s not spicy.”
Zhao Yunqing’s throat is sensitive to spice and can’t tolerate it.
Su Nuo gasped in an epiphany and got an idea.
Time leisurely flowed, the aroma of food drifted from the kitchen into the living room. Zhao Yunqing was originally not hungry. He became hungry for real after smelling that deep fragrance. He put down his book and went to the kitchen, “Are you done?”
“Almost, just wait five minutes.”
There were already several courses laid out on the table, including three sautéed vegetable dishes, steamed sea bass and a plate of sweet and sour chicken wings as well. Zhao Yunqing’s hand reached towards the chicken wings.
Seeing it approaching near, Su Nuo’s chopsticks patted it away and there was a strong threat contained in her eyes.
Zhao Yunqing pursed his lips, calmly dissembling, “I’ll help you serve.”
At this point, the soup was ready and Su Nuo carefully transported it out.
At the dinner table, Zhao Yunqing held chopsticks, eating elegantly.
She had a small appetite and in just two bites, she was full. She swallowed down the bit of soup remaining in her mouth and her eyes scrutinized Zhao Yunqing. “Are you left-handed?”
Zhao Yunqing’s fingers stopped for a second and he quickly nodded, “Un, is it strange?”
Su Nuo shook her head, “I heard that left-handed people are smart.”
Both Rong Qing Wang and the crown prince were left-handed. One of them had unfathomable thoughts and thorough considerations with farsighted acuity; the other was a cold-hearted and ruthless, absolutely brilliant genius.
Thinking of these two, Su Nuo had no appetite anymore. She put down her spoon and looked down at the dark night outside the window in a low mood.
Zhao Yunqing’s eyes flickered and his voice, softly, “Do you want to go see fireflies?”
Su Nuo shook his head: “No, fireflies look so scary.” After saying this, she got up to wash the dishes.
Zhao Yunqing: “…”
Zhao Yunqing: This day, I have no way of chatting.
Sweethearts, you guys want to boycott, then boycott. No need to specially inform me. Saying blah blah blah this then adding one in the end….
Then it seems that she goes on a long, long rant.
She is ranting that readers are threatening to unfollow her and she is basically like you guys do what you want because some of you like the entertainment circle stuff or hate it and others like the gaming stuff or hate it. She said that she isn’t the readers’ boyfriend and doesn’t need to grovel to earn back readers’ favor.
She said in the beginning, you guys don’t like the gaming plot, so I cut it as there wasn’t much gaming plotline. Then she complain that the readers then disdain the entertainment circle plot, not liking the supporting female.
She also says to be reasonable, the entertainment circle was written from the very first chapter so it’s not a surprise that there would be celebrity/actor plots and she had already mentioned that the entertainment business wouldn’t be the main plot with relatively low importance. She also points out that the entertainment circle is important to gain that connection to Senior Brother (aka Zhao Yunqing). And that if she deletes this, she deletes all the corresponding plots connected that concern the male lead, second male lead, second female lead, etc. Then she writes fart all.
She also talks about Meng Yiran getting entangled with Yuan Ze, she clarifies that Meng Yiran is being purely mercenary about this for the goal of harvesting more of the female protagonist halo. She also rants that if she writes about the female support relying on the protagonist halo to climb up top, stepping on Su Nuo’s head that she will be damned for making her heroine so wretched.
Basically ranting that she can’t please anybody and she won’t read the comments anymore.
Then at the very end, she is like you guys are still my precious babies. lol.
Haha, Zhao Yunqing’s text and his obvious glee at startling Su Nuo seems so boyish and charming. Then that move with the cup of tea! Hahaha! So sneaky. My husband loves to tease me too.
I forgot if I wrote this but Rong Qing Wang (嵘卿) translate to Glorious/lofty courtier/minister King. The 王 (Wang) can be translated as both King or Prince depending on context so I just left it in pinyin form.
